When you are having a Breakthrough, you can turn to this Self-Love Vocabulary to support you in creating a space where you can allow the emotions to flow.
A Self-Love Vocabulary is a list of actions you can take without relying on an outside source to make you feel better. These are actions that don’t allow you to disassociate from the emotions. Dis-associative activities, such as gaming, substance use, binge-watching Netflix, shopping, or gambling do not count.
Example activities for your Self-Love Vocabulary include, spending time in nature (in the forest or at the beach), taking a bath, making art, listening to uplifting music, or playing your own music. These are all healthy, self-loving ways to spend time reflecting and allowing the emotions to flow.
Start by creating a list of 10 things that you can do when you’re feeling emotional and can’t think straight. This list will be there anytime you need some self-love. By choosing self-loving actions, you allow the emotions that surface to be honored, processed, and released.
